Scotland Betrayed: Westminster’s Colonial Decree Slams the Door on Our Oil and Gas Future – The Alienation of a Nation

The Alliance to Liberate Scotland today condemns in the strongest possible terms the Labour government’s ruthless legal manoeuvres, announced in the King’s Speech, to permanently shut down all future oil and gas exploration in Scottish waters.

This is not governance.

This is economic vandalism by colonial decree.

Having extracted Scotland’s riches for generations, Westminster now moves to kill the industry outright, entombing tens of thousands of jobs and the livelihoods of entire communities beyond the reach of any future democratic reversal.

Aberdeen will not become “Aberdeen No More.” Not without a fight. This brazen act of economic sabotage comes on top of the deeply sinister push toward Digital ID.

The message from London could not be clearer: Scotland’s resources, Scotland’s industries, and now Scotland’s people are to be managed, controlled, and ultimately discarded at Westminster’s convenience.

This is the alienation Jimmy Reid warned us about.

In his historic 1971 address, Jimmy Reid spoke powerfully of a system that leaves working people feeling powerless, disconnected from the decisions that shape their lives, their families, and their communities. He described alienation as the great curse of modern industrial society – where ordinary men and women are treated as mere units of production, stripped of dignity and agency.Today, that alienation is not abstract. It is Scotland’s lived reality.

The people of Scotland have been systematically alienated from the decision-making processes that determine our economic future, our energy security, and now even our personal freedoms.

Decisions made in Westminster boardrooms and corridors of power, by governments we did not elect and cannot remove, are destroying industries built by Scottish ingenuity and labour.

Our wealth has been siphoned south, our industries deliberately closed, and our democratic will ignored time and again.

How many more Scottish industries must be sacrificed on the altar of Unionist ideology? How many more families must watch their futures cancelled by remote decree? How many more times must we be told that London knows best while our coastal communities are left to wither?

Enough.

The Alliance to Liberate Scotland will not stand idly by as our nation is de-industrialised by stealth and our people are herded into digital control systems.

We reject this latest act of economic betrayal with every fibre of our being. We stand shoulder to shoulder with the workers of Aberdeen, the families of the North East, and every Scot who refuses to accept managed decline as our destiny. The independence movement is rising precisely because of outrages like this.

Scotland’s people are awakening to the truth: only with full sovereign control over our own resources, our own laws, and our own future can we build the prosperous, free, and dignified nation we deserve.

We call on every Scot – Yes supporter, undecided, and even those who have doubted before – to recognise this moment for what it is: a breaking point.

The Union is not a partnership. It is a cage. And the door is being welded shut while we watch.

Scotland will not be alienated any longer.

We demand the immediate reversal of these anti-Scottish measures. We demand the right to decide our own energy future. And above all, we demand the right to independence – so that never again will distant politicians be able to casually destroy Scottish jobs, Scottish communities, and Scottish potential by legal fiat.

The time for polite protest is over. The time to liberate Scotland is now.
